9 de Octubre

9 de Octubre

9 de Octubre is the Dia de la Communidad Valenciana. It commemorates the day King Jaime I reconquered Valencia.

It is the 2nd most important festival of the year after Las Fallas.

Like most things in Valencia it has multiple disparate traditions. There will be various concerts, reenactments, Religious and Civic celebrations.

To me some of the best things to see are

Saturday 4 October at the Torres de Serrano.
The entry of the Ambassadors.

There will be a concert starting at 19:00 followed by the reenactment of the exchange of Ambassadors of King Jaime and the Moorish King of Valencia. Fireworks after.

Sunday 5 October in Plaza de La Virgen, “Alardo d´Arcabusseria”, Mock battle between the Moors and Christians in Plaza de La Virgen and surrounding area. 11:30AM

Wednesday 8 October at midnight. – Fireworks in the river park

Thursday 9 October. – Parade Moros y Cristanos. From Glorieta up C/Paz to C/ Vincente Martir ending in Plaza de La Ayuntamiento. Mascleta afterwards. starts at 17:00.
